Patternmaker, Instructor, Designer
Hi, I’m Traci Anderson, the owner and patternmaker behind Apparel Pattern Making (APM) and the designer of the A&P Home Sewing Pattern Collection. Thank you for visiting SewAPMPatterns.com, where we design sewing patterns with a purpose.
The Anno & Pum (A&P) Sewing Patterns were created to educate and support individuals living with mental health challenges, as well as those who support loved ones facing these challenges. Each pattern includes resource links that offer helpful information related to mental health.
As a lifelong aspiring designer, my journey began as a young sewer and drafting enthusiast. I pursued my passion for design by studying Apparel Design and later worked as a Patternmaker/Technical Designer in the apparel industry. I also had the privilege of teaching as an Adjunct Fashion Design Instructor at universities and colleges over the years. Throughout my career, I’ve developed sewing patterns for all genders and sizes, working with a wide range of fabrics and across various product categories, including industrial, home-use, and apparel soft goods. One of my most unique experiences involved integrating electrical circuitry into clothing, which was both challenging and fascinating!
I specialize in active sportswear and lifestyle apparel, with a focus on stretch fabrics. Today, I continue to run APM, offering customized patterning services, designing A&P Sewing Patterns, and teaching pattern drafting. I also serve as the Patternmaker Technician for the University of Oregon’s Sports Product Master’s Degree Program here in Portland, Oregon.
In addition to my patternmaking expertise and teaching, I am dedicated to supporting individuals from all walks of life. I strive to emphasize how important it is for everyone to receive the proper help and obtain the services needed to live a thriving life. Advocating for mental health awareness and supporting those impacted by mental health challenges is a core part of my mission. To learn more about my personal journey with mental health, click here.
